Accidental Wash & Go

So I was preparing my hair to try out perm rods when i discovered my hair “clumping” together… decided to try a wash and go instead… pretty pleased

guess what i tried??… yeah i caved and tried Terressentials… i considered buying bentonite clay and mixing it myself… but i remembered… i dont have time for that!!… so i just spent money and bought it… *sigh*

i loooooove the way this smells… its like minute maid lemonade… the application was SUUUUPER easy… i detangled… put a little on each section and pinned it up… then rinsed it out in the shower… the whole time my hair stayed detangled… and defined… unlike any other wash process ive ever had… so thats a plus… i actually LIKE not having a suds… i find that my hair gets lost within suds… and makes the whole process cumbersome… i already have enough hair… i dont need additional things adding to the things i have to rake through to get to my hair… it rinsed out clean… well… (as clean as i usually get things… i have a hard time reaching my scalp… but thats with everything)…

i could see all the gunk leaving my hair… it was pretty gross… but i know it was effective… i absolutely loved it… the process… im not sure if i like the price though… so i will continue to use it… and see if i can convince myself that its definitely worth buying versus just buying bentonite clay… but terressentials smells soooo good =(

Its been 2 weeks since i washed and styled my hair… and i cant say when i’ll be doing it… i just do not feel like doing it… i just dont..
This is a two week old twist out… with more definition than i’d expect from sleeping on it without tying it up at night… playing in it… and just not being all that nice to it =/… there is one thing that I did differently… and that is use shea moisture’s curl enhancing souffle… im 100% sure that has something to do with it…

hilarious… but true… The Secret to Long Natural Hair

Update: Minitwist Out

Dear Tumblr,

It has been 4 months since my last post…. shame shame SHAME on me!!!

my hair has been growing… which is expected… not many styles have been done though… just twist outs & a couple sets of minitwists… so i dont have to keep doing my hair… soooo lazy… i know… but i really look forward to mini twists for the mini twist outs… they look like sisterlocs without the commitment… or at least i think they do… ive gotten really good at putting them in and taking them down fairly quickly… so they have been a staple… heres the take-down of my last set…

Forgive my awks face… I am a year & a half natural & 2 years post relaxer =O when the f♥ck did that happen?!!?!?

SHE’S ALIVE

Hello all, I did realize I hadn’t been here in a long time. I had a few a set backs with my hair and I feel like I got no where. Therefore, I was really discouraged with my hair. I decided that I would just get my perms, wait a week until it flattened out and bun it. I trimmed my hair occasionally. Now It is healthy and truly at the point of restarting my hair journey.

I am no longer using the ORS relaxer and now am using the Mizani relaxer again. It gets my hair straighter and seems to cause less breakage for me.

Updates soon! I want to try new styles instead of just wearing my hair straight all the time. I need to jazzz it up! *spirit fingers*

Love,

Bre!

my twists outs have gotten so much better lately probably cuz i have figured out a couple tips:
-detangling in small sections… i use a wide tooth comb & follow up with a smaller comb…
-applying product in sections as you twist… I find that thick cream based products work best… shea butter (or other butters) work as well…
-twist as much as your length will allow… meaning… twist until you cant twist anymore without moving down the twist until the hair “makes” you… a way to test this is to pull the strands away from each other… if the twist winds upward… start at the ending point and continue to twist…
thats about it… its really simple… but its been producing some really defined twist outs…

Hair Cleansing Heaven

So I went to the beauty supply store with my sister, not planning to buy any products, but while browsing decided to pick up a few things anyway. The shampoo I have been using is “Burt’s Bees Grapefruit & Sugarbeet” shampoo. I was really in love with this shampoo for quite some time, because it cleaned my hair. After some time I felt like it was drying my hair out, so i used less but my hair never really got clean that way. In the beauty supply I found a shampoo “Creme of Nature: Sulfate-Free Moisture & Shine Shampoo with Argan Oil" for $5, not "cheap" but much better than $9 Burt’s Bees, so I figured I could give it a try.

Let me tell you Tumblr, this stuff is heaven in a bottle, the best shampoo I have ever used!!! I usually procrastinate on posts, but I had to inform someone else on my discovery. It felt just like I was conditioning my hair, but I could also feel it cleaning my hair of buildup. My hair was smooth after the wash, not like that rigid strippy feeling I get with other shampoos. I was so pleased. I am too excited for my next wash day. lol.

I was going through some photos & came upon the photo i took the day after my BC & omg my hair was short… lol… i mean i still consider it short now but i had no idea it was THAT short… lol… i guess i was just caught up in being newly natural & im kinda glad I was… but i cant say i was 100% happy… that first photo always kills me… i look so scared… lol… but i warmed up soon & my hair has just kept growing ever since… im so proud… lol (ps: the photos were taken between may’11-feb’12)
